The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is for students aged 11-16. The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the world beyond school. The MYP is a five-year programme, and at Westwood, this includes Year 7 to Year 11. In the final year of the programme, the MYP eAssessment provides IB-validated grades based on examinations and course work. Students who undertake external assessment are eligible for MYP course results and the IB MYP Certificate.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) emphasizes intellectual challenge. The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

MYP students acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that they need in order to be successful in the final years of secondary school and beyond. The MYP’s focus on approaches to learning provides ideal preparation for the kind of rigorous study that opens doors to higher education.
